Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualification requirements for this course. All learners will complete an initial assessment to identify their current skills and ensure they are enrolled at the most appropriate level. You should be committed to attending regularly and participating fully in lessons.

What you will learn
You will develop practical maths skills that can be applied in everyday situations, the workplace, and further learning. Topics may include: - Using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and percentages - Calculating with money and understanding personal finances - Measuring length, weight, capacity, time and temperature - Working with ratio and proportion - Interpreting tables, charts and graphs - Collecting and analysing data - Solving mathematical problems and applying maths in real-life contexts The content studied will be appropriate to your qualification level and will follow the City & Guilds Functional Skills Mathematics specification.

How you will learn
You will learn in a supportive classroom environment with guidance from an experienced tutor. Lessons include practical activities, discussions, worked examples, group work and individual practice. Real-life scenarios are used to help you understand how maths can be applied in everyday situations. You will receive regular feedback and support to help you progress.

What will you need to bring
You should bring a pen, pencil, notebook and any reading glasses you may require. A calculator may be needed for some activities and assessments; your tutor will advise when this is required. All other learning materials will be provided.

How you will be assessed
Assessment is through a City & Guilds Functional Skills Mathematics examination. Throughout the course, you will complete practice activities and mock assessments to help prepare you for the final assessment. Your tutor will monitor your progress and provide feedback to support your achievement.

What we expect from you
You are required to attend every session. The minimum required attendance for this course is 85%. Anything below this attendance will be reviewed by the Curriculum Development Manager and you may be withdrawn from the course and the outstanding course fees will still be payable.
